Often when we think of floral’s making a presence in the home we are reminded of our grandparents out dated and never subtle over used fabrics and prints. But floral’s are making a great comeback this season and used in the right way can incorporate a wonderful presence into your home. They can add a subtle touch of feminism but also bring pattern to a more simple interior. Whether it be the use of fabrics, or wall paper prints, upholstered furniture pieces or a more simple yet stunning feature arrangement your home will be given an instant fresh feeling with the very present trend this season.

Glamorous Deep Dark Woods

We have seen a lot of light wood in trends lately but the beautiful dark side is making headway. The dark woods really leaves you with the feeling of retro glamour with a modern take, perfectly finished with metallic fixings for the sophisticated feel to any room.

Natural materials and textures are a big thing this season. Raw textures and embellishments, materials and applique details leaving that beautifully refined finish that is almost irresistible to the touch.  Whether it be the use of lovely wicker furniture or adding in a playful use of materials and texture combinations you can instantly create a whole new layer of decoration and interest that is suitable to any colour palette.

Rich deep hues

The past few years have been filled with pastels, minimalist white on white and scandi inspiration in the homes. As lovely as these combinations are colour is making a comeback, these rich deep hues are creating such warm and inviting spaces with with Emerald Greens, Deep Navy Blues and Bold Burgundies. These colours are such a wonderful addition to the home and go well with the already in style metallic which will be here to stay. Small things such as scatter cushions, and a lovely floor rug can create such a warm ambience and great way to incorporate these colours this winter.

Australian inspiration

A clean and contemporary finish the Australiana trend has returned but this time bearing a more refined and stylised approach. The colours to achieve this look consist of wonderful olive greens, dusted terracotta hues and burnt reds teamed together with softer textures such as organic linens and hand-printed design materials. Tie the whole look together with some lighter wooden furniture and beautiful native flowers and ceramics with matte tones.

As mentioned earlier this favourite of the past few years is here to stay, Metallics are a great way to finish of a space and can accent any colour palette. Mixed metals are a great way to modernise dark wood for that elegant and modern finish without the need to replace furniture. Try adding new pulls to already existing furnishings and a new lamp to finish off any room with elegance with minimal efforts.
