10 Tidy Tips

In Clever Tips by Clever Dick

We all struggle to find the motivation to clean the house and keep it inviting. However, here are some simple activities you could include in your day-to-day to make it less of a chore!

ONE. Make your bed as soon as you wake in the mornings. Coming home to an inviting bed is one of life’s little luxuries. Take 5 minutes after the alarm to straighten the sheets and fluff the pillows. Your future self will thank you.

TWO. Put clothes back in their rightful spot after you try them on. It takes no time to chuck that dress back on it’s hanger. We don’t want to create the devouring floor-drobe.

THREE. Throw away clothes you no longer wear. An easy way to locate the not-so-loved items in your wardrobe is to face all the hangers in the same direction. As you wear, clean and put back, face the hangers the other way around. Give yourself a time limit, say 6 months. After that time, take all the hangers that were facing in the original position. Now, you have all the items you did not wear in those 6 months. It’s time to decide, donate to your local charity store or earn a pretty penny and sell them online!

FOUR. Magic Eraser. This little dude is your best friend when it comes to cleaning. You can pick some up from the supermarket or hardware store. A word of warning: he’s so powerful that he can strip paint – be sure to read the instructions first.

FIVE. Surface clean while you’re talking on the phone. Dusting the house and wiping down tables will be that more enjoyable if you don’t think about it at all. Let your fiends keep you distracted on the phone while you clean!

SIX. Tidy your toiletries. Clutter-free counter tops can really improve the appearance of your bathroom.

SEVEN. Clean out the fridge once a month. We all know our cool friend can be a little frightening to deal with sometimes. However, if you lock in 1 day a month to sort through expired condiments, you will have more room for more condiments!

EIGHT. Get a calendar. Have a “cleaning calendar” put it on your fridge or even set a recurring schedule on your phone. Setting realistic cleaning goals for yourself each week will make you feel accomplished.

NINE. Get a house plant. Ok, so probably won’t assist you with the vacuuming but they will improve the air quality in your home. Snake Plants are almost impossible to kill and also remove pollutants from the air.

TEN. Call Clever Dick Services! We would love to help you de-clutter and take that rubbish out of your home. To organise a pick-up, call 1800 CLEVER (1800 253 837).
